The Comox Valley Airport is a throwback to a simpler time. When you would walk on the tarmac to get on the plane.

Westjet has tranformed the valley. Traditionally, access was at the mercy of B.C. Ferries. Now Comox is a short commute away from Calgary.

A throwback!? I feel a little insulted. I really like our little airport. Its very modern - people are going to think its a hickport! It may have one airplane (sometimes it can fit 2 - there ARE 2 gates, even though they're only 2 feet away from each other), but its very sleek.

And you can arrive for your flight 15 minutes before it leaves and not even have to rush.

I really don't understand why people would drive for 3 hours from Calgary to the Windermere Valley (or farther...) when they could fly here in an hour and have good (warm, sunny) weather 8 months of the year. PLUS an accessible ski hill, overlooking the ocean, 5-6 months of the year...
