On my trip to Ucluelet last week, I was amazed at the number of oceanfront properties for sale. Al Gore (inventor of the internet) has scared people into selling their properties. Take the time to view this
BBC show. After viewing the film, you may want to pick up some waterfront bargains. Tsunami warning systems are quite advanced and the evacuation routes are well planned. Is there such a thing as Tsunami insurance?

Do you think there is a significant connection between the changing global patterns and the ocean front properties? Most people here seem to ignore the scarey stories. They show up front page in Alberta and are tiny little filler blurbs in the bottom corners here.
Over the past few years, over here in the Comox Valley, we have seen property values double. There are a great many people cashing in - both for investment payout and because the costs of everything have also doubled (or more). There are many very nice ocean front properties up for sale. They sold quickly last spring but there has been a noticable lull since then.
It is my uneducated opinion that the prices were too high last summer/fall from people trying to cash in on their investments. Not much has moved - thus the abundance of properties for sale. This summer may bring another buying spree - time will tell.
