Today we had wind gusts of up to 100 kilometres per hour. Want to know if you're in a windy part of the Pass? Look for the ancient, leaning Douglas Firs.
The old timers have an knack for weather forecasting. Simply look at the current conditions in Spokane, Washington. Tomorrow, it'll arrive here. This winter, we've been able to predict storms by monitoring the wind and rain on Vancouver Island.

I noticed your Courtenay weather link is to the Environment Canada Weather website. Having lived here in the Comox Valley and checked both the linked website and the Weather Network website almost daily for forecasts. I find the Weather Network is much more accurate.
Right now it is gorgeously sunny here. The Environment Canada wesite says its cloudy and moving to rain. Baloney! Weather Network says its partly sunny. There is the odd teeny tiny cloud here and there.....
We'll be sending the weather your way - look for sunny skies in the Pass for the next few days!
You're right. The government should get out of the weather business. I prefer accuweather.com At least when it comes to mountain forecasting. Link now changed.
I've added the link to my bookmarks. I'll do the comparison test and see if its better than the Weather Network. Nice looking site with hour by hour numbers.
